INTRODUCTION:
THALORIC 12.5MG contains Chlorthalidone which belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics. It is indicated in the management of hypertension either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. It is a long-acting oral diuretic with antihypertensive activity. It increases excretion of sodium and chloride. This diuretic effect leads to decreased extracellular fluid and plasma volume, cardiac output, total exchangeable sodium, glomerular filtration rate, and renal plasma flow. It also produces dose-related reductions in serum potassium levels, elevations in serum uric acid and blood glucose.
It is also indicated as adjunctive therapy in edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and corticosteroid and estrogen therapy. It has also been found useful in edema due to various kidney diseases such as nephrotic syndrome, acute glomerulonephritis, and chronic renal failure. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Before taking THALORIC 12.5MG, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver disease and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The common side effects are muscle weakness, dizziness and stomach pain.
