LOX ADRENALINE contains Lignocaine and Adrenaline
WHAT LOX ADRENALINE IS USED FOR?
It is used to:
Numb (anaesthetise) the area of the body where surgery is to be performed
Provide pain relief in labour
Relieve pain after surgery or acute injury
Treat certain types of chronic pain
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
TALK TO DOCTOR
Talk to your doctor if you:
Are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Have high blood pressure or heart problems
Have hypovolaemia (decreased volume of blood)
Have liver or kidney problems
Have difficulty in breathing
Have epilepsy
Have diabetes
Have thyroid problems
Have or ever had a stroke
Have an infection or inflammation at the site where the injection is to be given
Have or family history of porphyria
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or for advice before taking this medicine
CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS
Your doctor will give the right dose depends on your child?s age and body weight
DRIVING & USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines as it may cause sleepiness
INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor, if you are taking,
Local anaesthetics
Medicines that contain adrenaline
Halothane (general anaesthetic)
Amiodarone (used to treat an uneven heartbeat)
Propranolol (used to treat blood pressure)
Domperidone (used to treat motion sickness)
Medicines used to treat mental problems
Medicines that induce labour
Cimetidine (used to treat stomach ulcer)
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
This medicine will be given by a doctor or nurse
It will be usually be given near the part of the body to be operated on
If you given more LOX ADRENALINE
If you think you have given too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately
Symptoms of overdose: dizziness or lightheaded, numbness of the lips, tongue and around the mouth, vision, hearing problems, problems with speech, irrational behaviour, twitching of your muscles, fits (seizures), effects on your heart and blood vessels, loss of consciousness
SIDE EFFECTS OF LOX 2% ADRENALINE:
SERIOUS
• Severe allergic reactions: sudden onset of swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat which may make it difficult to swallow, severe or sudden swelling of your hands, feet and ankles, difficulty breathing
• Gradual onset of numbness, prickling or tingling and/or muscle weakness in your feet or hands, which can spread upward into your legs and arms
• Stinging or burning pain in the lower back or legs and tingling, numbness or weakness in the legs (inflammation of a membrane that surrounds the spinal cord)
COMMON
• Dizziness (low blood pressure)
• High blood pressure
• Nausea or vomiting
• Pins and needles
• Slow heartbeat
UNCOMMON
• Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) or being sensitive to sound
• Difficulty in speaking
• Numbness of the tongue or around the mouth
• Fits (seizures)
• Sleepiness
• Shakiness
• Blurred vision
RARE
• Uneven heart beat (arrhythmias)
• Double vision
