DESIROX 500MG contains Deferasirox which belongs to the group of medicines called iron chelator. It is used to treat chronic iron overload caused by frequent blood transfusions in patients (aged 6 years or above) with beta thalassaemia major. It is also used to treat chronic iron overload caused by infrequent blood transfusion in patients with other types of anemia, and in children aged 2-5 years. The most common side effect of taking this medicine are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating or signs of liver and kidney damage. Talk to your doctor if any of these symptom bothers you.
