INTRODUCTION:
CORDARONE contains Amiodarone which belongs to a group of medicine called anti-arrhythmics. It is used to treat uneven heartbeats, Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, other types of fast or uneven heartbeats such as atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation. Arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat where the heart beats too fast, too slow, or with an irregular rhythm. Tachycardia is a condition where a heart beats too fast and bradycardia is a condition where a heart beats too slow.
It works by regulating the heartbeat by blocking abnormal electrical signals in the heart. The most common side effects are blurred vision, generally moderate slow heart rate, decrease in blood pressure, local injection site reaction including swelling, pain, redness, infection, and pigmentation changes (blue or grey marks on parts of your skin exposed to sunlight, especially the face).
CORDARONE will be given as an infusion into your vein by a doctor or nurse. Your doctor will decide the dose and frequency depending on your condition. This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in neonates, infants and children up to 3 years old.
