WHAT IS ATREST 12.5MG?
ATREST 12.5MG contains Tetrabenazine which belongs to a group of medicines called monoamine depletors
It work by decreasing the amount of certain natural substances in the brain (monoamines such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine), which are involved with nerve and muscle function
WHAT ATREST 12.5MG IS USED FOR?
ATREST 12.5MG is used in the treatment of the involuntary movements (chorea) of Huntingtons disease
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
TALK TO DOCTOR
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
Have liver problems
Have emotional or mental problems (for example, depression, nervousness, anxiety, anger, agitation, psychosis, suicidal thoughts)
Have liver or heart disease
Have any allergies
Have breast cancer or a history of breast cancer
Sleep a lot more or a lot less than usual
More or less hungry than usual or notice a big change in your body weight
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
Consult your doctor before driving or using machines
Interactions
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including
Monoamine oxidase inhibitor medicine (selegiline, rasagiline)
Reserpine
Directions & For Use
ATREST 12.5MG is a tablet that you take by mouth
Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
You may take ATREST 12.5MG with or without food
Your doctor will increase your dose of ATREST 12.5MG each week for several weeks
If you take more ATREST 12.5MG
If you take too many ATREST 12.5MG, call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital right away
If you forget to take ATREST 12.5MG
Before starting ATREST 12.5MG, you should talk to your doctor about what to do if you miss a dose. If you miss a dose and it is time for your next dose, do not double the dose
If you stop taking ATREST 12.5MG
If you stop taking ATREST 12.5MG or miss a dose, your involuntary movements may return or worsen in 12 to 18 hours after the last dose
Tell your doctor if you stop taking ATREST 12.5MG for more than 5. Do not take another dose until you talk to your doctor
SIDE EFFECTS OF ATREST 12.5MG:
SERIOUS
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
• Depression
• Suicidal thoughts or actions
• Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)
• High fever
• Stiff muscles
• Problems thinking
• Very fast or uneven heartbeat
• Increased sweating
• Symptoms of Parkinsonism include: slight shaking, body stiffness, trouble moving or keeping your balance
• Dizziness due to blood pressure changes when you change position (orthostatic hypotension)
COMMON
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
• Sleepiness (sedation)
• Trouble sleeping
• Depression
• Tiredness (fatigue)
• Anxiety
• Restlessness
• Agitation
• Nausea
STORAGE:
Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
