INTRODUCTION:
ASUNRA 400MG contains Deferasirox which belongs to the group of medicines called iron chelator. It is used to treat chronic iron overload caused by frequent blood transfusions in patients (aged 6 years or above) with beta thalassaemia major. It is also used to treat chronic iron overload caused by infrequent blood transfusion in patients with other types of anemia, and in children aged 2-5 years. It can also correct iron overload in patients aged 10 years or older who have thalassaemia syndromes, but who are not transfusion dependent.
ASUNRA 400MG traps and removes the excess iron from the body and excretes them mainly in the stools. During the course of treatment, your doctor may recommend you have regular blood and urine tests to monitor the amount of iron in your body. Regular monitoring of your kidney and liver functions is also necessary, as they may reduce the risks of unwanted side effects. The most common side effect of taking this medicine are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating or signs of liver and kidney damage. Talk to your doctor if any of these symptom bothers you.
Take this medicine as directed by your physician. It can be taken once daily. However, your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration and time of consumption depending upon your age, weight and health condition. Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or having advanced myelodysplastic syndrome or advanced cancer. Consult your doctor before taking. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart disease. This medicine is not recommended for use in children aged below 2 years.
